Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know this is right for me?

Dr. Sallee offers a free 15 minute phone consultation.  She will ask some questions and provide you with information so that together you can determine if this is the right fit.

Do I have to live in Central Florida to receive services?

Dr. Sallee is licensed to provide care in the state of Florida.  Anyone located in Florida, in any county, is eligible for services.  This includes those in our state on a full-time and part-time (e.g., 'snow bird') basis.

How long does each therapy session take?

Individual therapy sessions typically last 50 minutes.  Couples and group sessions are usually scheduled for 60-75 minutes.

Do you accept insurance? Will my insurance cover your services as an out-of-network provider?

Please see the Virtual Therapy tab for a comprehensive overview of this topic.  Psychological Services of Central Florida does not contract with any insurance companies, however will provide an invoice upon request for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.  It is the responsibility of the patient to contact their insurance company to determine if they will participate in reimbursement and how much they will reimburse.

What if I need to cancel an appointment or am running late?

Your appointment time is reserved for you.  Occasionally, things beyond our control come up unexpectedly.  Please call as soon as you know you are unable to make your appointment or if you are running late.  Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before your scheduled session will result in a $50 late cancellation fee, unless it is determined that you were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond your control.

What should I do in an emergency?

If you are having thoughts of harming yourself or someone else, then immediately call 911, go to your local emergency room, or call an emergency hotline (1-800-Suicide, see below).    If you are experiencing a medical emergency or other emergency, please call 911 or go to your local emergency room.

Services provided by Dr. Sallee, including through email, phone, and telehealth sessions are not to be used for emergency situations.  Services through Psychological Services of Central Florida are not intended and are not appropriate for emergency situations due to the immediacy and level of care required in emergency situations.

How do I prepare for a telehealth session?

Telehealth sessions can offer many conveniences without losing out on quality care.  In order to preserve the quality of care that can be provided, it is best to have a private space free of distractions where you can focus on your treatment.  Treat the session as though you are at the doctor's office without having to make the drive.
